If we talk about
Tengger, we would like try to remember the past. Even if we are living in
modern era today, the Tengger people still maintain their traditions as Hindus
in Java. One of famous festivities is the Kasada Ceremony. Every year, they
pray to God Brahma (From whom Bromo derives its name) that He will grant them
good health and harvest for all the descendant of Majapahit Empire. The local
belief of the heritage of Tengger people can be found in Roro Anteng and Joko Seger
florklore. They strictly keep their cultural and moral value such as modesty,
honesty, hard-worker, hospitality and no crime as a part of law of Karma in
Hindus.
Two attached
mountains named Tengger Volcano in the highland of the district of Bromo-Tengger-Semeru
was formed during the last one million years. Mount Tengger became the highest
and biggest mountain in Java. The trace of the tremendous erruption at that
time as the beginning of civilization in Bromo-Tengger-Semeru was creating an
wonderful landscape to be new mountain ranges. The valley, the Savannah, the
water spring, the caldera, the sand, the ash, the volcano and the Sunrise
become one of an extraordinary active volcano which attracts thousand tourists
all over the World. How the Earth taking their breath, imagine how huge this
original Tengger Volcano, and when the Sunrise smiles at you in the early of
the day are one of gergous Earth’s face.
